Meet Sadie

July 15, 2008

This is my newest cloth and clay doll, Sadie.

She measures about 12.5″ head to toe and is sweet as can be.

She is available on EBAY.

Today’s Featured Artist is…Mystele Kirkeeng AKA: littleglimpses!

So, tell us…

Q: What are your favorite mediums to work with?

A: Hmmm. That’s a hard one because I’ve only been at this painting thing since February of this year (2008).  I’m still finding my wings here! Right now, I really enjoy anything I can get my hands on, from vintage, rusty stuff to lyrics from spirituals to new, crisp decorative papers. I paint/detail with acrylics, charcoal, inks, watercolors, and oil pastels…so far!

Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

A: A word, a feeling, my memories, my family, the work of other artists/crafters, art mags - all of those things.  One skill that painting is honing in me is “sight”.  Really seeing a flower, a bird, a person. Rather than flitting from one mental compartment to another, I’m learning to be moved by every moment living.  Learning.Q: What message do you hope to convery with your art?

Q: What message do you hope to convery with your art?

A: Definitely encouragement - to give courage.  So many people are weighed down by this consumerist, self-centered culture that we are creating in America. Its effects are evident & far reaching. It messes up home, relationships, ideas of success/achievement…the list goes on.  People know something is wrong.  There’s an ache, an emptiness, an urge to slow down, to start over.  I hope that my art will shine, like a city on a hill, God’s love and mercy into the hearts of the people it reaches. I hope God will use what he’s given me to help jar hearts to new life even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.

Please be sure to go check her out ON EBAY.

Wings of Truth

Original painting on 36″ X 11.5″ X 1″ metal shelf…for sale on grittyjane.com

Hello

July 6, 2008

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July!

Whooo-hoo! I got a shipment from The Wood Man! Remember him from the You Tube video last winter?

How exciting to have such a stack of boxframes! I think they are pretty and they smell so good. I did not know where I was going to keep them all…but then I figured out I could put them right under my table in the middle of the room. You might notice the paint buckets jacking up my table…I do that to save my back from breaking. This way I can stand up and work and not have to do that half-bend thing.
